Being a Westerner, I am accustomed to a particular diet which works for me in controlling my figure -meat, salads, vegetables and meeeeeeeaaaaat, however since being in stunning Thailand for over a month, my controlled diet is out of the window as carbohydrates is the local stable diet. Being a South African, I can’t really live without my red meat, however a good steak is rare and hard to find in Thailand.
@Jacklimberis and I were very fortunate to be introduced to the best restaurant on Phi Phi Island, Unni’s, a Scandinavian restaurant which serves delicious Western and Eastern dishes. Their steak is exported by Australia and its divine.
The English brekkie was also to die for.
Our favourite Thai dishes are vegetable spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, prawn fried rice and papaya salad.
After Phi Phi we stayed in Krabi Town for a week and we were introduced to the street markets where locals prepared and served various popular dishes for themselves and tourists.
Another delicious reason for picking up weight in Thailand is due to the cocktails being so yummy and costing only €3. I’ve been trying not to order cocktails when we are out but sadly the wine selection is not very wide either, but we were lucky enough to have found a bottle or two of South African red.
We are travelling to Koh Samui next so watch this space for more pics.
