On Wednesday we drove out to Postcard Cafe in Stellenbosch with my family. It was the last day of the 3 weeks they had spent here in Cape Town for Christmas so we went for breakfast.
It was my first time being here and let me tell you, it's gorgeous! It is situated on the Stark-Condé wine farm nestled in a valley in the Hottentots Holland mountains. You are surrounded on all sides by mountains and it's hard to take a bad picture. The area features a dam stocked with large Koi fish. One enthusiastic carp-ling kept jumping full-body out of the water.
Because of the drought the water level is quite low. On the restaurant's website there are photos of what it looks like with the dams full. Have a look at their website here https://www.postcardcafe.co.za/
We're definitely planning on going back later in the year after the rains, maybe even when it snows again.
It's easy to see why they called it the Postcard Cafe, every view is postcard worthy!
I had the Omelette with Bacon cheese and substituted tomato for mushrooms. The 'seasonal greens' complimented the flavors of the omelette really well, it was a surprising combination.
I'm a bit of a baked cheesecake nut, almost every new place I go I love to sample their baked cheese cake. I even ordered some cheesecake when I visited Jerusalem. So, I had to do so at postcard cafe. Unfortunately it was quite dry for my liking , but the soft lemony taste was great. My folks had the lemon tart which was perfection.
The trip coincided with out 8 year engagement anniversary. I'm a very lucky man!
Definitely worth a visit if you're in Cape Town!
