My Adventure on the Island of Crete - Day 1

I always want to visit Crete as it considered one of the most beautiful and distinctive Greek islands. Crete offers its splendid seashores, ancient treasures and mountain villages, where locals share their unique traditions and cuisine.

My husband and I finally booked our first trip there for a week and I would love to share my experiences with you all on Steemit.

Day 1

After almost 4 hours' journey with Easyjet airlines, we finally arrived in Heraklion airport at around 10pm in the evening (Greek time is 2 hours' ahead of UK time).

At the front desk within airport, we collected our rental car and headed straight to our hotel in Malia. Malia is to the east of the region of Iraklio and it took us approximately one hour to arrive at our destination, the Socrates Hotel.

A dark, handsome young man called George welcomed us at reception. His spoke pretty good English which we were so relieved about, lol. After a brief introduction to the hotel, George gave us our room key as he could plainly see how tired we were.

Although it was midnight, both of our tummies rumbled with hunger pangs so we decided to head out and hunt for some food at midnight. On the way out, we quickly checked out the hotel with the night lights turn on. It looked stunning!

After a few minutes short walk, we arrived at the famous Club Street where the night life of Malia lives! The main strip is chock a block with bars, pubs and high-energy clubs filled with teenage and adolescent boys and girls from aboard.

One restaurant caught our attention with its vivid advertising board full of delicious food, this is Pepper's street food bar. (Hive account@papa-pepper, is there something you're not telling us? Lol.). They served a wide array of tasty dishes from traditional wood oven pizzas to more common local foods.

We had the Pull-pork burrito, Jack Daniels Burger and chilli beef fries. All tasted great, especially those fries that I've never tasted before!

The meal, atmosphere and weather was simply superb! What a great way to end our first day's stay in Malia, Crete! Cannot wait to see what the next 7 days here holds! Till next time...
