Friday Flop

I can't blame it on a long day in the kitchen because, for once, it wasn't.

Supper was supposed to have been comforting fish cakes. Mercifully, agter yesterday's heat, today's maximum was much lower than yesterday, helped by a sprinkle of rain and a chilly wind.

However, it is the live TV coverage of the judicial commission into corruption in South Africa was more compelling than a movie about Al Capone that is to blame.

I started cooking late and we ended up with a cross between a fish fritter and bubble and squeak. With homemade fresh tomato sauce which was the only thing about the meal that went to plan. Totally attributable to the ingredients - all from the garden. How could I go wrong?
