Tonight we had a nice little family BBQ at the shack.
My son Isaiah came out to help. I was able to teach him how to make a fire, and how fire needs oxygen to thrive and grow.
I’m always happy when I see my kid playing with fire. It’s a real unschooling win.
Of course I don’t mean in a dangerous way, but when I was a kid, I spent hours upon hours with my cousins sticking things into fires and burning them.
My parents and my cousin’s parents spent a couple years building new houses right next to each other. We had amazing fires, and amazing hideouts comprised of stacks of tree stumps and felled trees! There were little even tunnels between the stumps! Wonderful!
Tonight Isaiah got off the tablet and came outside to help me BBQ and to build his own mini-fire.
My lovely wife,
skewered some chicken and sliced up some veggies to put on the grill.
This is such a step up from our tiny apartment in the city. I’m really happy and thankful to be here!
