I went back to Nomad Restaurant in Stellenbosch the other day, to once again have this delicious vegan burger. It is probably the best burger I've had since going vegan.
What I love about vegan burgers is that they always taste different. There are literally hundreds of flavors and textures, which you can get out of different plants. Before I went vegan I almost always just had either "beef" or "chicken", because that's what was usually on the menu.
Nomad restaurant have still failed to disappoint me. I went their the first time after competing in the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour. That was when I took this pic. I haven't taken a recent one, but trust me they still look the same.
My sister had a pizza with vegan cheese. I think it was almond cheese but I'm not sure. I had a slice and it was good, just a bit rich compared to what I'm used to. It's interesting...how your taste buds change over time. The more fresh fruits and vegetables you eat the more you feel satisfied with those simple low sodium foods. I just don't enjoy foods that are super high in fat or loaded with salt anymore. I think that's a good thing.
I did not care much to ask what this burger was made of, but now I wish I did for the sake of this post. I'll be sure to find out next time. What's the best vegan burger you've ever had?
