More and more I see videos on the internet of clips of TV s shows labelling vegan protests as militant veganism and stating has it gone too far etc. As a vegan who eats largely a raw diet, one of the argument that often comes up is vegans still kill animals so what is the difference.
Well here is my view, in the making of bread, and potato products, biscuits etc, insects, mice, rats ,birds can be killed, this is very true and it is what motivates me to move forward towards full raw vegan diet,in the summer I have pretty mastered only drinking smoothies, but the winter is a bit of a different box of frogs.
If the idea of well if you can`t do everything do nothing, for me is apathetic, yes in an ideal world I would kill no animals in my consumption of food, and self growing is a good way to reduce your foot print of that. As for the lifes taken in the processing of crops, the beings killed in that process have at least lived a free life away from being exploited, not to mentioned a death that they most likely knew nothing about that was over in seconds.
The animals that are slaughtered for meat are put throw usually a life of being enclosed, emotionally abused, and traumatized, their is a massive difference in my view here than beings who are perhaps less aware being near enough instantly killed.
Veganism is not perfect, and I personally am always on a quest to improve as are many other vegans, until no animals are killed, but its still far ,far better than anything animals actriculture has to offer, in terms of care for mother earth, and personal health, and saving animals lives
