It's the weekend y'all, and there's only one thing that upsets me on a weekend...Having to work! Fortunately that only happens on those rare occasions when hell freezes over, pigs fly and vegans stop yelling at people to stop eating meat. That's right...Never!
So, I'm at the range shooting some IPSC today. I've just finished actually. It was a pretty successful day and I think I'll score reasonably well in my division. I managed to find a balance between speed and accuracy and to be honest I shot very well...Although...
There was this one time when I shot a penalty target (PT) which is in fact tantamount to shooting a hostage, without the repercussions. It deducts 25 points so yeah, not so good...
But other than that little mistake I reckon it's all good! I still think I'll finish well in the standings. I'm currently sitting at 3rd overall for the year so no too bad...Second of the losers. We'll see whether todays effort brings me up to first of the losers...I'm aiming for 1st place of course. Although this sport is very competitive generally I tend to stay fairly casual about it, at least when shooting at club level anyway. The State Titles and inter-club matches are a different case though of course. I take it more seriously. Today was a match at my own range so a more social event.
One sport I do take seriously is the sport of eating...Come on, it could be a sport right? Pie eating contests and all? Anyway, tonight I'm meeting my sister for dinner. She's here from Sydney with her new boyfriend and tonight I'll meet him for the first time. Yeah, I know right? That's why I went to the range to practice. Nah, not really, I'm sure he's a reasonable dude. We are going to a nice restaurant in the Barossa Valley which I wrote about in my last blog so I'll not bore you in this blog. The boyfriend-guy is a wine-snob (that's what I've labelled him anyway), he likes wine - Get's excited about it and talks about it and all. Hmm...Considering the only thing I know about wine is that it's white or red, sometimes bubbly and tastes like grape juice gone wrong well...Might be interesting. I'm sure I'll learn a thing or two. It's going to be a good night though I think. Don't worry, I won't embarrass my sister...I'll be on my best behaviour, I promise.
Anyway, I hope y'all are having a great weekend so far and enjoying whatever it is you are doing, or are going to do. Mine has started with a bang, quite literally, about 180 bangs considering how much I shot today to be accurate and I'm sure tonight will be a good night. If I get a chance I'll snap a photo or two and maybe do a bit of a review on the restaurant [and boyfriend-guy] if appropriate.
