Wine is the kind of thing that is so specific and refined that you can honestly become a real piece of shit getting good and knowledgeable about it. There are vineyards, parts of the world, and even specific years that can hold the gem of a perfect glass. But after all the preferences and the experienced palettes have had their say, there is still one choice to make: red or white?
A good red, can make the best steak, an orgasm. And a good white, can wash away all the pain of learning your husband is boning the karate teacher and your kids are still failing. In the same way, some people will tell you, that lukewarm water is better than ice cold, you must approach this decision in the same fashion.
So what do you want: a crisp, tart Pinot Grigio, or a a rich, full bodied Cab?
Is it truly about the pairing… and if so, is wine any good by itself?
