When I was a child in the 80's, my bestfriend and I would always look at the sky during sunset since we used to live in a place where you can see the full view of the sky, even though we were playing, my bestfriend and I, will stop playing and we would always wonder what's going on in heaven. We would always ask ourselves, how many souls entered the kingdom of heaven that day?

We were brought up with the phrase "second coming" is almost here, so we would count with our little finggers how old would we be when the year 2000 comes because back in the day where I live or at least, in my small community of kids the year 2000 was always feared because of the second coming.

For a while I didn't plan anything for myself, I mean, whenever people would ask me "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Of course I would answer, I want to be a lawyer (didn't pursue law though), but deep inside me, I don't really have plans because I was thingking we would die in a few years anyway, why plan, right? I was a child then.

I would say I was scarred because of the second coming with an "expected year". I only focused on the dreadful day for the wicked and I wasn't able to think about the part, being a "great day for the righteous". Maybe because I was really scared. I can't even remeber who gave me that "fake news" (second coming is the year 2000) but for a child that I was, it was horrible to think that everything in the world that I love will soon perish. It was so sad for me that I feared that in a few years, whatever I would become will no longer matter.

So for parents out there and the soon to be parents, a piece of advise, PLEASE don't let your kids go astray and let them focus on being nice and how Jesus lived and how Jesus sacrificed himself for our sake and that he wants to be with us instead of the adversary. Don't let them focus on the second coming. If they focus on the latter they might end up like me, afraid of the true nature of the so called second coming. This way, we eliminate the fear but we still get the same results. To be with the creator and saviour Jesus Christ and nothing else.
