Unless you pay for upvotes or buy a lot of Steem and power it up into SP it is incredibly hard to get noticed however good your content is. As more and more people join as well it is going to make it even

Ethereum can still (at present) be mined for profit using a decent card. Zcash is also quite popular. Cryptocompare.com is a good website. It shows various cards & rigs and how much each one can make

I think that's just a red herring used by people who are scared of Bitcoin & other cryptocurrencies. The majority of black market trade is still done in fiat and some in precious stones and metals.
