Steemit Inc engineers continue to make progress

Steemit Inc have released an update on current projects including RocksDB/MIRA and the splitting of the wallet function from the main steemit.com condenser. They have also reported on continued decreases in the EC2 hosting requirements which are resulting in significant reductions in their monthly AWS bills. Ned Scott and Elizabeth Powell discussed all these changes in depth during an interview with @pennsif on MSP Waves on Thursday. The recording of that interview will be available shortly.

BlockTrades starts work on the Steem Proposal System

Steemit Inc have now agreed to fund @Blocktrades to develop a Steem Proposal System (SPS) that is similar to Bitshares’ Worker Proposal System.

Approximately $55K USD worth of STEEM will be paid from Steemit to Blocktrades for each month of work. The task is projected to require between 1 and 2 months of work and will include scheduling of a hardfork. Steemit considers this funding to be a part of a larger donation to the SPS and wishes that the Steem community will be actively involved in evaluating the development of this proposal.

Blocktrade's initial proposal suggested that ongoing proposal funding under the system should be taken from author rewards. However there has been an alternative suggestion that the funding should only come from donations. Blocktrades has therefore put out a post to discuss the two alternative approaches...
