RE: Gathering Pine Needles for Animal Winter Bedding
Great tip! I think it's crazy so many people rake their lawns and put the leaves in plastic bags for the recycling truck to take away. We have 3 monster White Oaks here that produce huge amounts of leaf

RE: Why Manure is the Unsung Hero of the Homestead
I'm totally convinced that in most situations floating turds in water is a bad idea. That said, I do this almost every day. I have experimented with hot composting my very own humanure though, along with

RE: FALL GARDEN - Planting a Fall Vegetable Garden In Raised Beds: Onions, Collards, Kale, & Cilantro
yes cilantro is the best in the fall. It handled frosts very well and the flavour is better the colder it gets. I make tons of pico de gallo this time of year. I'm intrigued by the perennial onions. I

I'm a fan of the sunchoke. I grow a big patch of them too. I usually dig em up in the spring, eat a bunch, get bad farts and also freeze and dry some too for later use. I feed lots of them to my rabbits
