One of the best parts of traveling everywhere is having a home to return to. Many times people asked me if, by traveling, I was “running away from something,” but nothing could be further from the truth. Whenever I went on trips far from home, it was simply to satisfy my own love for new experiences and adventure. And reuniting with my loved ones is also a very special moment that I truly enjoy 😃.

Una de las mejores partes de viajar por todos lados, es tener un hogar al que volver. Muchas veces me preguntaron si viajando estaba "escapando de algo", pero no hay nada más alejado de la realidad que eso. Las veces que di paseos lejos de casa, fue para satisfacer mi propio gusto por lo nuevo y la aventura. Y volver a encontrarme con mis seres queridos también es un momento muy especial que me gusta vivir 😃.

--- --- Around this same time last year, I had planned what would become my final backpacking trip across Argentina. I still had four provinces in the northeast of my country left to visit, so I designed an itinerary that allowed me to explore them over the course of three weeks, with the added bonus of crossing into Paraguay to visit a friend. This trip was very emotional for me, because I knew it would be the last one I would take in this style (at least for a while), since I needed to return home to work as an engineer and start saving for my future (typical over-30 adult things, I guess).

Para estas mismas fechas pero el año pasado, había planeado lo que fue mi último viaje como "mochilera" por Argentina. Me faltaban conocer 4 provincias del noreste de mi país, así que diagramé un itinerario que me permitió visitarlas a lo largo de 3 semanas, con el plus de cruzar hasta Paraguay para visitar a una amiga. Este viaje fue muy conmovedor para mí, ya que sabía que sería el último que haría con esta modalidad (al menos por un tiempo), ya que necesitaba volver a casa para ejercer mi profesión de ingeniera y empezar a ahorrar para mi futuro (cosas de adultos +30, supongo).

--- The end date of this trip happened to coincide exactly with my mom’s birthday (planned that way on purpose), so the morning I returned, I reunited with her and part of my family for a celebratory lunch. The last province I visited was Corrientes, where Gabi and Luis kindly welcomed me into their home. After that, I took a 12-hour bus ride back to Retiro in Buenos Aires. Of course, I slept a lot during the trip—I had to be awake to greet my mom.

La fecha del fin de este viaje coincidía justo con el cumpleaños de mi mamá (planeado así a propósito), por lo que la mañana en la que volví, me reuní con ella y con parte de mi familia por un almuerzo de celebración. La última provincia que visité fue Corrientes, en donde Gabi y Luis me recibieron muy amablemente en su casa. Después de eso, tomé un bus de 12 horas para llegar hasta Retiro en Buenos Aires: por supuesto que dormí mucho en el viaje, tenía que estar despierta para poder saludar a mi mamá.

--- One week after that, it was my 31st birthday. We had a small celebration at my house, and over the weekend we got together with several friends to celebrate. Turning 31 was much less stressful than turning 30, when I had gone through a bit of a pseudo-crisis. And now I’m so behind on my Hive content that in less than a month I’ll already be turning 32. Time really flies 😂.

Una semana después de eso, fue mi cumpleaños número 31. Para eso hicimos una pequeña celebración en mi casa, y el fin de semana nos reunimos con varios amigos para festejar. Mi cumpleaños 31 fue menos estresante que cuando cumplí 30, en donde me había agarrado una pseudo crisis. Y ahora estoy tan atrasada con mi contenido de Hive, que en menos de un mes voy a cumplir 32. El tiempo vuela realmente 😂.

--- I also took advantage of the days after the trip to visit my sisters and my dad. Catching up with them always means having a good time, chatting and sharing anecdotes. Of course, at this point in life no one expected me to bring souvenirs of any kind anymore—they’re already used to the fact that it’s rare for me to bring them something, although there were a few little gifts, mainly some unusual yerbas that I bought in Paraguay.

También aproveché mis días posteriores al viaje para visitar a mis hermanas y a mi papá. Ponerme al día con ellos siempre significa pasar un buen momento, charlando y compartiendo anécdotas. Por supuesto que a esta altura de la vida ya nadie esperaba que llevara souvenirs de ningún tipo, ya se acostumbraron a que es raro que les lleve algo, aunque hubieron algunos regalitos, principalmente yerbas extrañas que compré en Paraguay.

Following my plan to the letter, a few days after finishing this last backpacking trip, I began my job search. I was a bit worried because, although I had already graduated as an engineer more than five years earlier, my résumé didn’t have much experience. On top of that, from a work perspective, our country is going through a major crisis, so everything feels quite uncertain. But let me tell you, my friends, luck was on my side, because despite all of that, exactly one month later I landed a good position at a factory, which is the job I’m currently doing now (still surviving, by the way). I was happy that the universe gave me everything I wanted, when I wanted it, and within the timeframes I had hoped for. Thank you for that <3.

Siguiendo al pie de la letra mi plan, unos días después de terminado este último viaje de mochilera, empecé con mi búsqueda de trabajo. Estaba un poco preocupada porque, si bien ya estaba recibida de ingeniera hacía más de 5 años, mi currículum no tenía mucha experiencia. Además de eso, laboralmente hablando, nuestro país atraviesa una fuerte crisis, entonces todo tiene bastante incertidumbre. Pero déjenme decirles amigos míos, que la suerte estuvo de mi lado, porque a pesar de todo eso, en un mes exacto conseguí un buen puesto dentro de una fábrica, que es el que estoy ejerciendo ahora (todavía resisto). Me alegré que el universo me haya dado todo lo que quería cuando lo quería y cumpliendo mis plazos esperados. Gracias por eso <3.

--- These past few years have truly been incredible and even somewhat unimaginable for the Laura of some time ago. Sometimes I can’t believe everything I’ve done, the beautiful places I’ve been to, the stories I’ve lived through, and all the good energy that surrounded me. With all this good fortune around me, it’s impossible not to feel special. Of course, this change in lifestyle—now calmer and more routine than before—has not completely stopped my travels or changed who I am: as always, it’s about learning to adapt to a new rhythm, while enjoying the long process of building an adult life without losing the opportunities to have fun ❤️.

Estos últimos años fueron realmente increíbles y hasta algo impensados para la Laura de hace un tiempo atrás. A veces no puedo creer todo lo que hice, los lugares hermosos a los que fui, las historias que viví y toda la buena energía que me rodeó. Con toda esta buena suerte cerca mío, es imposible no sentirse especial. Por supuesto que este cambio de estilo de vida, ahora más calmado y rutinario que antes, no han detenido por completo los viajes ni mi forma de ser: como siempre, es saber adaptarse al nuevo ritmo, y disfrutando del gran proceso que va a ser construir una vida adulta, pero sin perder las oportunidades de divertirse ❤️.
