A look back at the RM Sotheby's Arizona sale which took place on January 27 in Phoenix (US). The sale kept its promises with 95% of the cars sold for a total of $US 43.3 million. There seems to be no crisis in this world š¤. I'm going to go back to the cars that sold the most and there are no surprises, the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Alloy Gullwing is on the first place of the podium for a record for a Gullwing, final selling price $US 6.8 million. Incredible...

1931 Duesenberg Model J Tourster
On the second place of the podium of the most expensive cars sold during this sale, there is this 1931 Duesenberg Model J Tourster sold for $US 3,415,000. If you're used to reading my posts on cars, you know that I don't know much about cars between the two wars. But this is the perfect opportunity to learn a little more about this model.
The Duesenberg Model J is one of the most iconic of all American cars of its time with 481 examples produced between 1929 and 1937. It's penned by the American designer Gordon Buehrig, known for his coachworks made for the car brand Cord. It is equipped by an aircraft engine manufactured by Lycoming Engines of eight cylinders in line of 6,9 liters, double overhead camshaft 32 valves producing around 300 hp for a top speed of 190 kmh. 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB by Scaglietti
In the most expensive cars sold during auction, there is always Ferrari, especially if the coachwork is penned by Scaglietti. And this is still the case in Phoenix with this 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB sold for .
The Ferrari 275 was presented during the 1964 Paris Motor Show with the 275 GTS designed by Pininfarina and the 275 GTB (gran turismo Berlinetta) by Scaglietti with a more sports car look. Beautiful...

1971 Iso Grifo 7-Litri Series II
And I end this post with my favorite car of this sale the 1971 Iso Grifo 7-Litri Series II sold for $US 610,000.
Thanks to Italian designers Nuccio Bertone and [Giorgetto Giugiaro], the Iso Grifo, the sport two-seat version, was built from 1965 to 1974 with lightweight Corvette engine. For the Iso Grifo GL (Gran Lusso), Renzo Rivolta, founder, and Bertone wanted to compete against Ferrari and Maserati. In 1970 for the Series II, the engine was changed for a 7.0-liter Chevrolet engine mated to five-speed ZF manual transmission producing 390 hp. Beautiful beast š
