Today I am going to share one traditional Bulgarian recipe for Musaka. Musaka is a Balkan dish, very tasty and in every country the recipe and the ingredients are different. I will share with you the Bulgarian variety from the Sofia region.
Ingredients ( for 4 people):
600g potatoes
400g minced meat ( I will use mix:pork and beef)
1 onion
2 carrots
1 glove garlic
1 tomato (1t.s. tomato sause)
salt
pepper
parsley
cumin
For the top spread:
400g yogurt
2 eggs
salt
pepper
Fist you have to cut all the veggies into small cubes. Put the minced meat with the onions, tomato, garlic and carrots in a hot pan and saute them for 5 mins. After that, mix the meat mixture with the potatoes and the seasonings. Bake for 45-50 mins at 220 degrees until its fully ready. Meanwhile mix the eggs, the yogurt and the seasonings in a bowl. After the dish is ready, spread the yogurt mixture on top and bake for another 20-30 mins until the spread is nice and golden. Serve it with additional parsley and some cherry tomatoes! Enjoy!
