EXHAUST
Payout Summary and Updates
Sunday, November 11th
Another week rolls on by, and users continue maintaining a high level of energy! We've got our regulars such as ,
,
, and
--- and we've even got a couple newcomers such as
,
and
gettin' in to the mix!!
THE MORE THE MERRIER!
The more users and runners we get, the more interest there will be, and the more people contributing to the EXHAUST reward pool! I may have said it a couple times, but we build up a reward pool as follows:
- Exhaust gets a 20% beneficiary reward, and a 5% beneficiary reward of comments created through the EXHAUST.me frontend site;
- The liquid rewards (currently SBD, but could be STEEM later depending on how things go) get added to any liquid rewards earned from update posts like this one; and
- At the end of each week (Sunday, at 10AM Pacific Standard Time), all liquid rewards earned by
get distributed to users proportionally based on how far you've run, biked, or hiked (with some cool sports to be added soon! -- I'm a huge fan of rock climbing and surfing, so expect those to be added once a few more features are put together!);
Just now, we sent out the following rewards:
What's New, and What's Coming Soon!?
The New Stuff:
I won't lie -- I've had a pretty hectic week at my fulltime job, so it has been a fairly quiet week in terms of updates / tweaks to the site. That being said, there have been a couple backend updates to the system, and a few aesthetic / operational updates to the site that I think are worth sharing:
Vote-Weight Selection! Finally!
Photo Carousel!
Some Backend / Invisible Stuff!
- Cleaned up the SQL Database that manages everyone activities;
- Added support for a 15-minute (or soon, custom) delay to when
votes on activities and comments;
- Updated to a new SteemConnect-Django app that should allow us to better manage refresh tokens (and do some of the voting actions mentioned above, if users choose);
- Probably some other little things too!
The Stuff Around the Corner:
The list of things we want to implement never seems to get shorter, and I seem to get distracted / excited about various fixes -- or am required to put out fires for existing features that I've accidentally broken (work-in-progress, baby!). That being said, there are a few things that are front and center that should be updated soon, such as:
- General overhaul of the site to utilize a custom bootstrap layout (currently using a free template from HTML5up which has been great, but some conflicts with their customized CSS and JS are starting to crop up as we add new features;
- We highly recommend these templates though -- it was an incredible starting point!
- The ability to include activity analysis / charts (pace, elevation gain, heart rate date) into the Steem Post, as well as an advanced Markdown editor for users that like to spice up their posts;
- This seems to be something that is pretty universally wanted. So in an effort to allow everyone to stop copy-pasting from their other apps / sites, this should go a long way to generating and sharing some cool data;
- Achievements system!!
- This is one that we're really excited about. Along with the rewards from creating posts, we're going to start developing an achievements system, so as users progress through their training goals and milestones, you get a bit of a prize for trying so hard. (Prize will be announced when the achievements system launches);
- Training Calendars;
is aiming to be a one-stop site for beginner to competetive athletes. Our idea for a training calendar will be to remind you about days when you need to get out for a schedule run/ride/hike/climb/swim/whatever-you-do. We also think this tool could be a powerful motivator to get you out the door (look at your 16-week training plan and notice that if you complete it, you'll be reward with approximately X-SBD's by the end of it). More details to come once we get closer to launching the calendar system!
- Many of the above features, and some as of yet unannounced ones will have a focus on connecting with other communities and dApps based on Steem. Some exciting ideas are floating around that we hope to implement soon.
That's probably long enough of a post for today. Feel free to ask questions in the comments below if you're confused. Chat with some of the users / devs / friends at our Discord. Feel free to scope out the project details at our Git on GitLab.
