Hey Girls, Here Are 15 Great Reasons to Add ‘Squats’ to Your Workout!
What you are about to read is one girl’s journey to a healthier and more youthful bootie. I am not a Medical Doctor, nor am I a Physical Trainer. I am a Corporate Worker who sits at a desk most of the day, who has begun the journey of learning the amazing health benefits of what squats can do for a girl! I have compiled a list of these benefits to share with you. With a little hard work, consistency and WHEN DONE CORRECTLY…. Squats can be your best friend too! (And please remember to check with your doctor before embarking on any exercise program… yada, yada, yada… you know the drill.)
- The ‘squat’ burns muscles in your entire body. It is one of the best exercises you can do that will engage large amounts of muscle tissue – all in one single move.
- Not only will it help your lower body – but it will also help to tone your abs and back. Say “hello” to great posture, and “bye bye” to back fat!
- As you gain more overall muscle in your body, you will burn more fat!
- Squats help to keep those injuries at bay by keeping your core and balance stay strong.
- Squats help you to stay regular! Toxin and waste removal is improved by the increased pumping of fluids throughout your body – eventually aiding in more regular bowel movements.
- The muscle stretching you do with squats gets the blood pumping and aids in circulation – which helps to oxygenate your body and may help increase your energy.
- As a result of this increased circulation, some evidence shows that done on a regular basis, squats can help to get rid of cellulite!
- Your range of motion is benefited. When squats are done correctly, they can help you keep your range of motion of your hips, knees and back.
- Mentally you will gain confidence as you gain in leg and core strength. Sure, the first few times of doing squats may hurt like nobody’s business… but as you increase in strength, you will begin to feel invincible!
- Add more spring to your step, and speed to your sprint. Professional athletes are known to add squats to their exercise regimen to help boost their performance in running and jumping. For me, I truly feel like I have more spring in my step since adding squats to my routine. Lookout stairs!!!
- You can do them anywhere – with or without weights and still reap benefits.
- Not only do squats help the professional athlete, but they will help you when you play with your kids, do yard work, or stoop down to pick up the newspaper.
- Flexibility increases from the full range of motion required to perform as squat. This increased flexibility helps you to perform other types of exercise with more ease and success.
- Squats help to b oost your workout ego – yep, as a woman when you master the art of the squat - you have done something that has made many a grown man cry.
- Sculpting – oh yeah, let’s not forget this part. Not only do squats build muscle in the quads, hamstrings, and calves… but I have started to see some definite muscle sculpting of my legs taking place.
Celebrate Squats! To celebrate my new best friend, I created this fun tee to wear to the gym.
