Sensationally good. Though it might not be for everyone. Although I can highly recommend giving this green, fruity, spicy delight a try. It's different, I cannot deny that… it definitely wakes you up and there is something about the mango and chili combo I just love.
So you can expect some more spicy mango recipes in the near future as mango season has fully started here. Mango overload… though we can still handle them know we have so many big and small trees that Mangoes in all stages… it's going to be a fun few months of mango (over)eating, preserving, and sharing ღ ღ ღ
If you are not a lover of the spicy heat, the smoothie works fine without the chili pepper ;)
Spicy Mango Wakeup Call
Ingredients (serves 2 FOR BREAKFAST)
2 cups fresh spinach
1.5-2 cups water
2 cups mango, I froze mine to chill to smoothie and add extra creaminess
1 orange, peeled and seed removed
2 passion fruit (optional… my hubby is crazy for them)
Fresh grated ginger to taste
1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked for at least 4 hours overnight is best
Thai chili (seed removed), chili flakes, or chili paste to taste. Cayenne pepper works too.
Directions
- Blend spinach and coconut water until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend again. If you have a high-speed blender you can throw everything in at once.
- Optional: Top with superfoods such as hemp hearts if you like.
