HEY THERE FELLOW STEEMIAN
Have you ever heard of "TORTA"? If you've been to Cebu, you may have seen a variety of this. "TORTA" is a delicacy of a town south of Cebu, Philippines called Argao. It is a kind of bread that is shaped like a flower topped with sugar and cheese, others with butter and sugar, even raisins are added for some. The special thing about the "TORTA" in Argao is they add a not-so-secret ingredient of "TUBA" or commonly known as coconut wine.π΄π₯
A famous place for this delicacy is "Chitang's Torta". "Chitang" is the nickname of the late Anecita Camello who started this business in the 80s.
Up until now, "TORTA" is still baked inside a
clay oven.
It has been a household name in the town of Argao so when looking for "TORTA" the locals would always recommend Chitang's Torta.ππ₯
The place is located a few steps from the main road. It's a quiet and cozy place since it's in a residential area. They also have other delicacies like "PEANUT BROAS" or Lady Fingers, "TOSTADO", "BUTTERSCOTCH" and "POLVORON" which are also very scrumptious.
It's a very affordable place since you can get one "TORTA", the size of your hand, for P25,
yes 25 pesos.
If you have a hard time coming to Argao, you can also get their products at Workplace Cafe in Ramos St., Cebu City or supposedly in Metro Ayala which is still under renovation due to the fire.
"Chitang's" also get reservations as far as the United States and Canada, since they have started marketing online.
