OMG! A lot of temptation over the internet. This is one of the struggles when you are trying to loss weight. Temptation, Temptation, Temptation.
If you have read my post 2 days ago, you are aware that I am currently trying to loss weight through Ketogenic, with this way of eating, I am limited to consume low carbohydrates and high fats food, which there are a lot available in every places. Korean BBQ is even allowed. YES!
But there are still some meat that were made better but made with bulk of carbohydrates.
Remember, 20gms per day only!!
Like one of my favorite snacks, beef dumplings or commonly known as siomai in Filipino.
The molo/wonton wrappers that is being used to make this one already have 4gms of carbs per piece. So 5 of those will fill up all the carbs that I have to take for the day. Yes, that small piece of snack will end everything I started.
But lo’ and behold. Thanks to people with the same way of eating as mine, I come up with an alternative.
Presenting, Keto-Dumplings!
Ingredients:
250gms Ground Beef
1 Small Head of Cabbage
1 Small Red Onion (grated)
1 Small Egg
Salt and Pepper
Procedure:
Mix the ground beef with egg, grated onion, salt and pepper.
Disassemble the cabbage. (Do not slice, this will be use as our wrapper.)
Scoop our mixed meat using tablespoon and fill each leaf of cabbage. (It should serve at least 10 pieces)
Once all prepared, layer it over the steamer, fill the pot with enough water then steam for 20 minutes.
If in case steamer is not available, you can improvise.
Place the prepared dumplings on a plate (porcelain / Stainless), the flatter the surface, the better.
Get a deep pot or pan (wok) and fill it with water (quarter-filled)
Get a bowl or glass with enough height to elevate the dumpling plate from the water in a pot/pan
Cover the pot/pan, then occasionally open it release air and prevent our dumplings to submerged on a boiling water.
And viola! Keto-Friendly Beef Dumplings is served!
