When we are looking for a restaurant in a pinch, the Stone Fire Grille has been a favorite of my circle. Located at 226 Atlantic City Boulevard in Beachwood, New Jersey, the Stone Fire Grille offers you the choice of either sitting in the room with the bar or a quieter dining room. The advantage to being in the room with the bar is when live music is playing. You could basically see the performer from any table. Despite how crowded the place is when we arrive, we have always been able to get a table.
You can tell that they care about their food just by their menu options. On this particular evening, I ordered the Hangar Steak: Allen Bro's Grass Fed Beef medium rare. This item is coked "sous vide," which utilizes a vacuum sealing method that gets the meat to the proper temperature by cooking in a water bath. The beef is then completed on a grill. The picture above shows my dinner cooked to perfection.
The meal came with white cheddar and bacon Boursin Smashed Potatoes. The Boursin name became popular with its cheese in France in the early 1960s. The fact that they are using a Boursin product impressed me. The veggie portion of this delight was grilled asparagus. I love asparagus so much that I am willing to deal with the stomach growling afterward. The entire plate was finished off with a demi glaze.
The hangar steak was seasoned to perfection and very tender. Some cuts of meat need that extra care to not be tough, but hangar steak usually is not one of them. I have read that hangar steak can become tough if not prepared in the correct way. Due to this cut of beef originating from a supporting muscle, it doesn't cook as tough as a flank or skirt steak. Those steaks originate from active muscles. While I have tried other meals here that were also good, this one would be my top choice from this point forward.
