Who doesn't love good barbecue? In Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, there is a place located right on Main Street called Harvey's Main Street BBQ. While passing through the area, I thought we would give it a try. Depending on where you live, good barbecue food may be hard to find. Well, this place was exceptional. I was in a chicken mood, so I went with the half chicken dinner. I had a side salad and applesauce with it. Instead of the roll, I ordered the corn bread. However, the dinner came out with the roll. The waitress did bring me back the corn bread when she realized the kitchen's error.
The meal was very filling and juicy because nothing is worse than dry chicken. Everything on the plate was delicious, with my partner agreeing as for her choices. And I do have to say that she is an expert when it comes to knowing good brisket. I loved the flavor of their house sauce.
What I didn't know until after the fact is the number of awards they won at Barbecue Competitions. These include the 1999 Grand Champion Massachusetts State Grilling Championship, the KCBS Reserve Grand Champion Pig & Pepper MA State BBQ Championship, the KCBS Florida State Reserve Grand Champion, 1st Place Best Ribs (Akron, Ohio), 1st Place Best Ribs (Trenton, New Jersey) and People's Choice Best Ribs (Strongsville, Ohio), among others. From what I tasted, they deserved every one of those awards!
