The story of my first chicken rice in Malaysia.
I am dating a Malay guy, who is crazy about the local Malaysian food: Malay, Chinese, Indian, any kind of local food. He especially likes chicken rice.
So for his birthday I decided to make homemade chicken rice and luckily I have a great friend, who supported me in making my first ever chicken rice (well he did 80%, )
I got all the ingredients, except the ones to make the sauce, I sort of assumed it wasn’t much needed, but guys do not make this mistake. The sauce is the valuable ingredient.
Ming washed the chicken and filled it in with the onions, ginger, and garlic, that I nicely cut.
- We boiled the chicken and afterwards I cooked the rice in the soup, that we got from the chicken. (the essence of the dish)
- Waited for the rice to cook and served it with the soup and slices of cucumber, with no sauce though.

But the funny part is the chicken toe, that Ming made me cook as well and that he happily eat afterwards.
That was a #cultural shock for me. I never saw and eat the chicken fingers no other organs than their meat before, so that was surprising, not that I tried it but I cooked it, so it also counts for the new experience.
Back to my first chicken rice, it turned out to be very nice, Ming and my boyfriend who tried it in couple of hours it was done can confirm.
I would recommend that recipe that I used and also to get the great companion for your first chicken rice cook experience.
