Shallow Thoughts
My dogs have missed the sun. . . can you tell?
Deep Roots
Today was a bit of a runaround, but late in the afternoon I found time to pull some weeds and get some kale starters into a planter box:
It's a cautious start, I'll be looking to ramp up the gardening as I find more free sunny hours on the weekend. I was very fortunate to find some Sun Sugar tomato starters at my local nursery, can't wait to get those growing.
Fire and Protein
We also had time for a quick triple cook on the Big Green Egg this evening. Round One was cedar plank salmon at 400F for 12 minutes:
Round Two was a couple of 1-inch-thick ribeyes. I didn't do anything fancy today, just cooked them at 600F for 4 minutes on each side and they came out perfectly:
Round Three was a couple of boneless, skinless chicken thighs at 300F for 9 minutes on each side:
Shockingly it's the first time I had cooked chicken on the Big Green Egg, and now it's official. . . I'll never use my Weber gas grill for anything ever again. Everything I cook on the Egg is just so much better that it's worth the extra time and attention to build and tend that beautiful fire:
