Zuppardi's Apizza - Restaurant Review
179 Union Avenue, West Haven, Connecticut
Zuppardi's Apizza - Website: http://www.zuppardisapizza.com/
Over the weekend my brother made a surprise trip home from The Ohio State University. We decided to go out to pizza with the family to Zuppardi's in West Haven. Zuppardi's Apizza is a classic New Haven style pizza joint that has been cranking out delicious pies since 1934. The restaurant was founded by master Italian bread-baker Dominic Zuppardi and it continues to operate in the family by his children and grandchildren. Zuppardi's has been at the same location since 1934. As you can see in the photo below the restaurant looks like a residential building and it is situated within a residential neighborhood.
The Menu

At the top of the menu a paragraph provides a history of the restaurant. The Zuppardi's menu is loaded with traditional pizza-shop favorites. In the picture below you can get a glimpse of some of their specialty pies on the front-side of the menu. Zuppardi's serves Foxon Park Soda, a local craft soda brand that is a staple of New Haven style pizza joints.
Pizza & Family
For some reason, Pizza and Family make a dynamic combination. And in this case. the whole family was there (although I did not manage to get a photo of everyone together). ,

and baby Madison. As you can see in the photo below, Madison had her eyes on the cheese pizza!
The Fresh Clam Pie
If you ever find yourself at Zuppardi's Apizza, I highly recommend the Fresh Clam Pie. This style was made famous by Pepe's in New Haven, but Zuppardi's certainly gives Pepe's a run for their money on this one. As you can see in the photo below, the crust is perfectly toasted and the white mozzarella cheese is loaded with freshly shucked little-neck clams, garlic and herbs. It is widely considered one of the best clam pizzas in America (if not THE best).
