Last night, I took my family and mum to a nice little French restaurant in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The service and ambiance of the restaurant was excellent. The food was very high quality but also affordable. We shared an entrée, soup and 3 mains, and of course topped it off with some nice desserts!
We started off the meal with the Escargots De Bourgogne (Burgundy snail served in sizzling garlic butter and chopped mushrooms)
Escargots is one of my favorite French dishes. I loved the tenderness and flavor of the snail.
For mains, our first dish was the Veau A la Normandy (Pan-fried veal with seeded mustard, slice apple, brandy and cream sauce)
The mixture of flavors of the sauce was delicious. I couldn’t get enough of the sauce and licked up every last drop. :)
Our second main was the Crevettes Roses A I’americaine (Large prawn cutlets pan-fried in tomato con-case, mushroom, white wine and cream sauce)
The prawns were very juicy and full of flavor. The portions were quite generous too. Very happy with this dish.
Our final main was the Fillet De Poisson Meuniere (Pan fried barramundi fillet with lemon and parsley sauce)
We initially didn’t order this dish, but decided to order it when we were still hungry after finishing the other dishes. This was perhaps my least favorite out of the dishes. The barramundi was well cooked but wasn’t very fresh, and the sauce lacked the flavor of the other dishes.
For desserts, we had two of my favorites, the Crème Brulee and ice-cream
What can I say, nothing beats finishing a nice meal with ice-cream!
Overall, it was a very enjoyable night. The food was very good quality and the service was excellent. I would definitely consider going back again, although the only negative I have is that the menu lacked variety and new dishes for us to try, so may not enjoy the same dishes as much the second time around.
