Dinengdeng (also called inabraw) is a dish of the Ilocano people of the Philippines, similar to pinakbet. It is classified as a fish sauce soup based dish. Unlike pinakbet, dinengdeng contains fewer vegetables, contains squash and fish sauce soup base.
Yesterday we fried milk fish and I suddenly miss our native dish in Abra which is Dinengdeng so I set aside our left over fried fish so that I can cook Dinengdeng
My husband went to the market and I told him to buy me Moringa Leaves and Alugbati.
Alugbati
- is a common vegetable in the Philippines, and it's also known as malabar spinach, though it isn't spinach at all. The vegetable has heart-shaped leaves that grow along a vivid red stem. The alugbati plant bears fruit that ranges in color from dark green to red.
INGRIDIENTS
- 1 cup squash (kalabasa), cut in cubes
- 1 cup malunggay leaves (moringa)
- 1 cup alugbati (malabar spinach)
- 1 red onions (chopped)
- 1 pc. tomatoe medium and (chopped)
- 2 tablespoon of bagoong isda (fermented fish)
- 2 cups of water
- left over fried milkfish

PROCEDURE
- In a casserole put 2 cups of water, bring water to boil.
- Add onions and tomatoes. Let stand for 3 minutes.
- Season with bagoong isda (fermented fish) and continue boiling for 5 minutes.
- Remove the scum that rises on top of the liquid and then put the squash and left over fried fish
- Simmer for 5 minutes, then add moringa leaves and alugbati. Cook until vegetables are done.
- Finally you can now serve your Dinengdeng with plain rice.
1 TIP:
- Wash all your vegetables properly
- Do not overcooked your vegetables, once it boil for 30seconds you can turn off the fire.
