Hello everyone,
welcome to my kitchen, let's hope I don't burn it down and we all stay alive after this meal!
Just kidding, today I had some time, inspiration, ingredients and one new slow cooker to play around with, so I decided to make the most out of it. Put on some cooking music, this will be a delicious journey.
What you need:
- Chicken breast
- Mushrooms (I picked up brown champignon)
- One zucchini
- 1/4 green cabbage
- Mixed vegetables (frozen, of your choice)
- Sweet corn
- Onion and garlic
- Tomato in a can
- Soy sauce
- Spices
Fun fact - the knife in the photos is over 50 years old, made by my grandfather. My mother got it from him when she moved away and she gave it to me when I moved to Belgrade. She knows that I don't really cook as much, but she wanted me to have it as a memory. I have many new knifes in my kitchen, but for some reason I always use this one.
I love cooking in the slow cooker for many reasons. You can't really go wrong there, just mix everything up and let it do it's job for an hour or more (depending on the meat). Flavors have better intensity, and all those spices make one hell of a dish in the end. It always tastes amazing and everyone thinks that you are a great cook, when in all honesty you just put it all in one place and turn on the heat.
Ciabatta Bruschetta
The chicken needs about an hour in slow cooker, on low heat. In the meantime, you can make a perfect addition to your dish - ciabatta bruchetta. Sounds fancy, right? I recently fund ciabatta bread in one local bakery and even though I don't usually eat bread, this one I LOVE. I added some leftover tomato and oregano, to make it more interesting, and baked it in the preheated oven for few minutes, jut enough to make it crispy.
Serving
I don't know about you, but I swear that food tastes better when it's nicely arranged on the plate. It can be quite simple yet effective way to make your everyday meals a bit better. Why not?
Well, someone is ready to eat (she won't) :)
I hope you liked my little experiment in the kitchen, we certainly did!
