Happy Monday everyone! The day is almost over, and it’s time to wind down from the busy hectic Monday-vibes.
Yes I do go out to eat sometimes! I don’t like to too much because of the heavy use of oil to cook some (most) foods, even if it’s vegan it’s not always healthy! I try to stick to whole foods as much as I can. I don’t eat oil at home, I don’t cook with it, I try to avoid gluten (but not always), etc. My main focus when making food/recipes is to make it as healthy as possible using whole plant foods. Resturaunts don’t care about healthy, they care about tasty! And sometimes I allow myself to go out to eat, and this is one of those times. I’m sharing the experience with you here!
Todays post is not a recipe, but rather a post about this incredible vegan reaturaunt that my husband & I went to last week... oh my god. It leaves me speechless every time it’s so amazing! It is called “Dixie Dharma”. My hope is to inspire anyone who is in the area to give it a try, OR to seek out vegan resturaunts/options in your area to support them! We need more delicious plant-based options in every resturaunt everywhere in the world!
The resturaunt is located in Orlando, Florida. It was about a 2 hour drive away from our house, and the trip out there was SO last minute, my husband literally asked me if I wanted to go after he got off work because he was already in Orlando at the time, so I got ready, packed up and left the house within 30 minutes and drove that way to meet him. Those impromptu dates are always the best kind of dates 😍🤗 in my opinion hehe
We enjoy the ambience of the entire resturaunt and actually there’s a bakery part of the store as well which is technically another store of its own combined into this one and they call themselves “Market On South” together. I’m not complaining 😏 they have tons of vegan sweets like cake, cupcakes, donuts, fruit tarts, pies, and more. the vibe of the shop feels very rustic, and just overall it’s beautiful.
We ended up getting their Jackfruit Sandwhich with a side of “cheesy homies” and... if you’ve ever had real Canadian poutine, you’ll feel me when I say that these cheesy homies taste JUST like it, except it’s all vegan! Of course they’re my favourite side. Next time I might just ask if they can give me a whole meal of the cheesy homies rather than make it a side 😉🤫 haha! And my husband got the “Orange Bird” and a side of garlic “Mac n Cheese”.
We also shared some vegan chocolate cake! Seriously 👌🏼
As an experienced vegan (that sounds so professional haha I just mean as someone who’s been vegan for quite a few years now) I can say that this food is top of the charts for me! My husband feels the same way! I definitely suggest you check it out If you are in the Orlando, Florida area, and if you aren’t maybe take a flight or two because it’s worth it!! Totally kidding... but who doesn’t love tropical weather & delicious vegan food! Come visit! 🌴☀️
I hope you enjoyed the food porn in this post, I’ll be back to my regular recipe posts on Wednesday! I’ll be posting 3 dreamy & creamy flavours of plant-based milk, 3 different ways! Stay tuned!🍶
We are off to see a movie tonight, and I‘m hoping it’s the Incredibles 2, but I think my husband is keeping it a surprise from me until we get there hehe 😁 we shall see! Have a great night everyone! ❤️
