It is a great day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!
We made a delicious feast for our volunteers today, cooking over fire in our sustainable kitchen! As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you.
We had an epic feast with a lovely pasta salad, grilled veggies, and Alaskan halibut!
We started with a unique pasta salad made with ricotta cheese filled tortellini, beets, red tomatoes, lots of garlic and garden fresh herbs, olive oil, homemade vinegar, and sprinkled with parmesan cheese.
Here we're boiling water for the pasta over our rocket stove! Such heat!
We made a grilled platter of veggies with thick slices of eggplant and some colorful little peppers. Our platters are decorated with shiso, a delicious and nutritious herb that grows like weeds on our property and is related to basil.
For our main course, we grilled thick slices of Alaskan halibut steaks and topped them with a flavorful blend of sautéed onions, garlic, olive oil, herbs, and salt and pepper.
It was a delicious, nutritious, and sustainable spread!
Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!
We do all of our cooking over fire, using wood that was otherwise destined to end up in a landfill! This is one of our rocket stoves in action - we built it by hand out of dirt.
