hi Steemians!
I have realised that I have not done My Health Chronicles series for a very long time!
The first time when I had that up, it was a really huge hit! And during that time SBD was below $1 USD value, and it still catered really good reviews.
And I was really grateful for that.
So recently for those who has known me personally would have known that I have suffered severe fever blister a.k.a Cankers a.k.a Mouth ulcers, the the point I could hardly eat anything solid.
So I have derived back to steam egg as my staple food.
But this time, I am using a different container so that I can pack more than one steam egg for lunch and dinner.
How does that look like?
Behold, the super cute Mini Chawanmushi !
When I first mentioned about the use of the iKEA mini glass containers many does not realised that such tiny little containers can be used for mini meals like the mini over night oat meals I have previously prepared.
It was quite easy as they do not require any cooking needed. Just whip up the recipe and let it simmer over night in the refrigerator.
(if you need to look at the recipe, simply click on any of the image above and it will take you there)
But how about using it hot?
&nbbsp;
At first I was kind of worried that if that is being used, either the glass will not be able to withstand or the metal might rust.
Apparently it turned out pretty sturdy, but I have used this for my mini steamer which only takes about 8 - 9 minutes to steam.
I mentioned it is almost healthy because I of the ingredients that I used.
You see, from Chinese New Year's hotpot, we had too much frozen fish balls and squid balls; so in order for me to consume and also in a budget savvy way, I have sliced the squid balls and place it inside so that I could have tiny bites of the food with my painful mouth ulcer.
I even added sliced cherry tomatoes in the bottom to have a mix flavour instead of all out meat protein (sorry Vegans!) and it still turned out pretty well.
The portion wise is actually pretty good for a single egg and the cost does not cross 1 MYR (25 cents USD) since all the ingredients are very little.
Steaming other ingredients with the mini glass container
Apart from eggs, I also tried out the frozen Nasi Kunyit leftovers from a day earlier when my colleague decided to bless the whole office with Curry chicken and Nasi Kunyit (Turmeric Glutinous Rice); but since I was not able to take anything spicy and I already packed food at the time, I blessed my other colleague with that extra chicken and retained the rice to whip up something different.
The ingredients below (as you so choose yourself) were added with the sliced frozen squid balls but at the top instead I had curry, which I have discarded, I have placed vegetarian Oyster Sauce (which is made of mushroom?) on top and let it steam over.
As the rice was frozen and rock solid I doubled the steaming time upto 15 minutes and the glass container from IKEA survived well!
So there you go! Another way of doing something small, mostly healthy (if you choose raw ingredients like eggs and frozen vegetables with some salt, pepper to taste) meal for you to curb hunger pangs especially on the run!
And all these can all round up as low as MYR 1 and you can easily only spend less than MYR 10 a day (that's another challenge I will share with you later)
So what do you think? Will these mini hunger pangs be able to help you to go through the day?
Until then
