Christmas around here ends on January 21st. So, all the leftovers Christmas content comes around the blog to start the year. It is an homage of eating leftovers from the big dates during December. What better way to do it than with an Empanada filled with Hallaca' Stew?
Yes, you read that right.
I've come to this place before and we realized they sold these empanadas and had to try them. I also went ahead and asked for chicken hot pockets to try them out.
The empanada was delicious. The mix of flavors found inside an hallaca with the crips fried corn dough makes for an awesome combination. The whole thing has a great size, so one packs more than enough to quench your need for empanadas.
There's only one thing to say about it. The stew should be drier since the juices eat up the dough and make it brake making a mess. But what's a little mess compared to the experience of eating some amazing food. The hot pockets were good, nothing to go crazy about and they actually come filles to the brim with chicken. And you can't never go wrong with the guasacaca sauce (mix of onions, mayonnaise, green pepper, garlic and more).

La Navidad por estos lares se extiende hasta el 21 de enero. Así que todo el resto de contenido navideño en mi haber va a cumplir el rol de llenar estos días. Algo así como un homenaje a las sobras que comemos después de las cenas en diciembre. ¿Qué mejor manera de empezar que con una empanada rellena de guiso de hallaca?

Ya he venido acá por empanadas en otras ocasiones y esta vez quise probar las empanadas de guiso de hallaca y pastelitos de pollo.
La empanada estaba brutal. La mezcla de sabores del guiso más la masa tostada y dulzona le dan un toque especial. También tiene un tamaño considerable, así que una es bastante para calmar el apetito.
El único punto en contra para esta es lo jugoso del guiso. Algo así debería ser un poco más seco ya que la empanada se desarma cuando el relleno tiene mucho líquido. Esto hace un desastre, pero uno muy sabroso. Los pastelitos estaban muy buenos aunque no son algo para volverse loco. Eso sí, están repletos de relleno. Y no hay manera de que esto sepa mal teniendo una guasacaca para acompañar todo.
