Sweet potato noodles can be said to be not the newest recipe for me. I have also shared the recipe for "Sweet Potato Noodles" in the past on my blog.
I often make this dish if I want to make a filling main course.
This time I tried to share how I manually form sweet potato-like noodles without tools.
Maybe you are familiar with zucchini noodles and there is a lot of cutting tools sold in the market specifically designed to form zucchini into noodles. The cutting tool can be used to make sweet potato noodles. But I know there are many people who don't have cutting tools to make noodles.
I am one of those people who do not have cutting tools to make noodles, and I feel I can do it manually even though the results are not as good as vegetable noodles formed with noodle cutting tools.
So let's see how I can form sweet potatoes into noodles.
Choose Sweet Potatoes with a Long Size Instead of Round
To make sweet potato noodles, I recommend that you choose sweet potatoes that have an elongated shape.
But if you can't find a shape like this, you can use the sweet potatoes which are slightly rounded. It doesn't matter at all, the most important thing is that you try to make sweet potato noodles even with an imperfect shape.
Prepare A Potato Peeler
Here I am using a potato peeler to make sweet potato pieces similar to noodles.
Also prepare a cutting mat to make it easier to cut the sweet potatoes.
Slice Sweet Potatoes
Before starting to slice the sweet potatoes using a potato peeler, we have to cut the sweet potatoes into slices.
Don't cut too thick or thin.
Thinly slice with a potato peeler
Then start slicing the sweet potato pieces using a potato peeler.
Make side-to-side movements. Pay attention to your fingers. You can use the help of a vegetable cutting mat so that the fulcrum of the weight is not in your hands. This can be used to avoid injury for those of you who are not used to doing this.
The result
This is the result of sweet potatoes that have been shaped like noodles. Maybe not too similar, but for me, this is quite satisfying because I don't use special vegetable cutting tools to form noodles.
You can also use this method to make zucchini noodles or pumpkin noodles.
Hopefully, the tutorial that I shared can be useful! Don't forget to follow my food blog for recipes that are easy to make, save money, and healthy!
