Are you an otaku? An anime lover? or someone who loves Japanese food like I do? I bet you'd like this newly opened restaurant, too!
My sisters and I were strolling in BGC when my youngest sister told me she's already tired and hungry. Since I'm already with my sisters, I told my parents I'd treat the family to dinner that night. There's no special occasion though. Sometimes I just feel like treating them to dinner, especially if the place is just around the corner. Because of my youngest sister's preference for Japanese food, we decided to dine in a Japanese restaurant.
I remembered there's a newly opened Japanese restaurant nearby. Saigosan is located near the cinema on the 3rd floor of the Uptown Mall in BGC.
When we arrived at Saigosan, we were greeted by the sight of the bright neon lights and posters.
Upon our arrival, the staff welcomed us and escorted us to our designated table. The bright posters on the wall added to the impressive interior of the restaurant.
It's also spring in Saigosan. The beautiful flowers can be seen all over the place. Some tables are placed inside this Japanese-inspired commuter train booth, which offers a different kind of dining experience. Unfortunately, the seats inside this train are not specious enough for the six of us. But, if you've ever wished eating Japanese food inside a Japanese train then eating here would make it a dream come true.
I'd like to eat my food in that train too! Maybe next time, when I'm with my friends. Also, can you read what's written above the IMO ❤️ sign? I might be needing to translate this one hehe.
My siblings were choosing their orders while we're waiting for my parents to arrive. Me? I was busy taking pictures for this blog. Lol.
The Japanese-inspired train booth is designed with anime and manga strips as well as some prefectures in Japan like Kagoshima, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo. Our table was located in between Hiroshima and Osaka. It is also complete with poles and hanging straps as if the train is actually moving. Impressive!
Are you familiar with the anime/manga strips above the station names? Feel free to drop the titles in the comment section!
There's this cool shelf with decorations beside our table. There were maneki-neko (Japanese cat figurines) that are said to bring good luck to the owners. They're all waving at me since I am sitting close to the shelf. I feel lucky enough already. Lol.
On the other side of our table, you can see these posters and the Saigosan sign on display. Look at the wall design closely too, are you familiar with that one?
Beside the shelf full of maneki-neko and funko pops is this black and white poster of My Hero Academia and Naruto. My sister can't stop talking about it while we're waiting for our orders to arrive.
At the back of my seat is this large mirror with a spring design. I bet this mirror launched a lot of selfies already.
Enough with the tour of this restaurant. Here are the foods that we ordered:
My sister and my father ordered this Yuzu Blue Lemonade for drinks for Php 120 or $2.21 per glass. They've got different words written on their glass. My other sister and I ordered softdrinks. We were eyeing for lemon-dou but unfortunately, they were out of stock.
For our meal, my youngest sister had her 4 pcs of Ebi Tempura for Php 320 or $5.89. It's quite pricey as it doesn't come with rice but it was really yummy and crispy, perfect with its tempura sauce.
My father is into ramen so he ordered one of their bestsellers, Fried Chicken Ramen for Php 550 or $10.12. My father loved it! If you're into curry then this one's for you!
My sister ordered two dishes. One is this Chicken Katsu for Php 345 or $6.35. It is a breaded chicken cutlet with egg chahan, mixed greens and curry sauce. I had some of it and I think I found my new favorite!
We also ordered this Grilled Yakiniku Don with egg for Php 455 or $8.37. I gotta admit, this one's really good too! It's grilled tender beef strips with beef chahan, ramen egg and mixed greens. My mom ordered the 5 pcs Teriyaki Karaage for Php 275 or $5.06.
I enjoyed their Samurai Skewers for Php 455 or $8.37. It includes gyuniku, yakitori and sausages but the sausages are definitely my favorite! It's a bit spicy, just how I like it.
Dining at Saigosan was satisfying, not only for our tummy but also for our eyes because of its interior and ambiance. We will definitely come back here to try some more of their yummy eats.
'Til my next foodie blog!
