Delmonico
This was the best steak I've ordered up in quite some time. According to , Delmonico is one of the best there is - in the world. Eating there, and enjoying the thick hunk of locally bred slaughtered animal coupled with some of this and that? Ya, this place was the bees fucking knees. On the menu, I ordered the PRIME BONE-IN RIBEYE “OSCAR STYLE” (meaning it came with red king crab, grilled asparagus and béarnaise sauce as garnishes) with some COUNTRY SMASHED POTATOES and SAUTÉED GARLIC MUSHROOMS. The server, I found out, was actually from North Carolina and asked if I wanted them true country. Tennessee, you know it! Skins and all plus some chopped garlic. Talk about mouth watering.
They asked me how I wanted my steak done and I said as rare as you can legally serve it. They threw a term at me called 'blue', meaning still cold in the middle and I was like hellz to the ya, gimme that! You can tell from the width of the 4-tined fork, this was no small steak. Even though I ordered the bone in, there was maybe a thumb sized shard. Very little ribbons of fat (meaning, just enough for a succulent ribeye) made this thing about as close to perfect as a steak can get from a restaurant. I washed it all down with a Long Island Iced Tea - extra sour. 5 stars.
The Venetian Prestige Cocktail Hour
What's better than Happy Hour? Happy Hour for three hours! One of the perks of getting the package I did, was a prestige club cocktail hour every night from 4-7 pm. During which, was all the free drinks I could handle plus some soups, salads and hors d'oeuvres.
What you don't see in these two shots, is some bombass French Onion Soup I destroyed. Pictured, are some pineapple chicken shishkabobs, lobster patte with orange and avocado and then a seasoned kale and pickled artichoke stuffed filo roll. That was actually the best thing on the plate. It may have even been the best thing on that entire bar up there. And of course, I washed it all down with a glass of Long Island Iced Tea - extra sour. Not the best one I had, she splashed some coke in it and nullified the tea flavor. Overall though, pretty yummy spot. 4.5 stars.
PBR Rock Bar & Grill
Some people would tell you that presentation is everything. If that were true, then this spot had their shit down pat. I mean, who would ever make some fried macaroni and cheese balls look like that? A honey mustard bed, glazed over with a zesty thousand island dressing and topped with parmesan cheese and chives decorated this beautiful plate.
Yes, again, I ordered a steak. I fucking love steak. I could easily go on 's carnivore diet. This was a little smaller, and about half as thick as the one from Delmonico. I probably shouldn't have even tried to get a better steak, but I figured PBR? Them country folk know how to throw down some steaks!
But not here. The taste was on par with a good steak, but they definitely did not have prime cuts. In my (not exactly professional) taster's choice opinion, this was about a 2.5 out of 5 star steak. The fat was riddled throughout the cut in an overwhelming percentage. I'd say close to 30% of it was fat. I washed it all down with a Bloody Mary that was far from textbook. That shrimp thing that and
suggested on Sunday was twice as satisfying. Overall, we'll say 3 out of 5 stars.
Mon Ami Gabi
This was where we had our big dinner with everyone that was presently there in Las Vegas. showed up right about the time I was hopping on a plane Sunday, so I did not get to meet him and wish him a happy 21st birthday.
As we all waited to be seated, I won a little money on the slot machines. That was fun. I don't remember the name of it though. I do remember that there was more people in that place than I think Canada would allow. HA!
If you are curious what is in the entrees' picture, it is a Skate Wing with crispy marble potatoes, fennel, fresno, lemon, and sauce verte. I've caught plenty of these buggers, but have never eaten one, and as I am a huge fan of trying new things - it jumped right out at me off of the menu.
Holy crap am I glad I did! After all the festivities of the day, this was a perfect choice. It was moist and literally melted like butter in your mouth. I let (another seafood and fish fan I learned) try a bite and he agreed.
Another thing the both of us noticed was what you see in this picture to the left. Now, we didn't say anything to , who was presently engaged in eating a dessert with chocolate chips all over it, as to not spoil her and others' meals. But, Boom Boom had his room key slip out of his pocket and went to pick it up. We both noticed that something moved when he did. At first, we just saw the small one grabbing a crumb, and then another one showed up to fight over it and we spooked one sending it scurrying to the corner where we got this shot. Sorry Lemon-Drop, this place, despite the awesome food, can only muster up a 3 out of 5 stars for that. We figured they knew and that's why the lighting was so dim 😜.
The #silvergoldstackers Crew
Going around the table clockwise starting with the lovable and huggable (ladies first), we have
- the organizer for this whole amazing trip, some 'knuckle-dick',
- who flew down from the middle of nowhere Canadia,
- who lost his actual head somewhere between Vegas and Hoboken,
- AKA 'Sportsbook' and finally,
- who is the man that started me on my precious metals path. All of you are loved, appreciated and already missed. This was one of the best trips I've ever taken. Now, just like we do, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, now wait until you see the silver from this trip.
