Few weeks ago, we took an one-hour drive to Seremban to pick our friend to have few days stay with us at Kuala Lumpur. A brief stop at Seremban means we must visit this famous curry house. Even our another friend purposely drove one car to come here to join us too. That showed how nice the curry was which lured him to join us as well!
Number One Top Curry House
Location: 15, Jalan Dato Abdul Rahman Seremban, Bandar Seremban, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan
The restaurant's name clearly displayed what it is famous for -
Number One!
Top!
Curry House!
When we arrived, it already had long queue. We were not in a hurry, so we patiently queue up. While queueing up, I heard the two families in front of us communicating with one another, one of them just arrived after few hours drive from Penang! Wow!
After 25 minutes queuing, it was our turn!
Ambience
I was surprised to find out it had air-conditioning inside. The area was cramp actually and if you preferred wide spacious dining space, you would not prefer this. One had to walk carefully to the inner section to get your space. Once you were in dining area, then more spacious but still not too huge space as well.
Food
There were varieties of vegetables selection and meat selection. And of course varieties of curry; chicken curry, fish curry, prawn curry, lamb curry, there were masala and varuval, all sorts, even my Indian friend was amazed. The waiter automatically spoke to our friend in their language and good thing our friend could speak the basic one, his mother-tongue is English.
There were many Indians sweet snacks and salty fried 'kuih' sold here too, we did not feel like snacking, so I just took photo of them and did not buy any.
There was a section of marinated fresh seafood for you to choose for order, and then it would be cooked for you with the choices of curry or fried or grilled. Very special indeed.
They were famous for their fragrant steamed bowl-rice and briyani rice to be eaten with your choice of vegetables and meat. But we did not order these.
Food we ordered
Banana leaf rice with dishes
We ordered banana leaf rice for three of us adults, the boys had their lunch earlier at McDonald's drive-through. One thing cool about banana leaf rice was you got to scoop the amount of rice by yourself. And over here, one thing special was you also got to scoop the vegetables by yourself, containers would be placed on your table. And you got to scoop the curry sauces by yourself too! We tried passing around the curry-set containers, wow, so heavy! Now I know how strong the waiters and waitresses hands are.
The banana leaf rice was so satisfying, with the mouth-watering four-types of curry sauces in your rice and the yummy vegetables, every mouthful was satisfying. They also served you free pappadam snacks and free one small cup of Rasam, the Indian spiced herbs soup, so sourish refreshing good! I love rasam so much! My husband and his friend enjoyed the rice with hands while I preferred to use spoon and fork. Overall, really number one top curry taste!
Side dishes
My husband ordered one stingray curry but unfortunately the sting ray was so hard we couldn't even bite it off. It was returned to the boss at no extra charge. They understood.
We also ordered a dish of spiced fried chicken bites. This was so delicious. The boys loved it.
Then, we ordered extra plate of 'kambing' aka goat varuval and a grilled prawns. Very delicious too. Loved the spiced used for the varuval and the sauce for the grilled prawns.
We had great time eating and especially to eat together with our friend, which is my husband's close friend, a time to catch up with life matters. I was just tagging along and listening to them chitchatting, while my children were reallyyyy enjoying themselves with mobile games. After that, we drove to shop nearby to pack some beef noodles before we went to pick our Seremban friend.
