Hello everyone
How are you guys today? I hope and pray that all of us are always given health and happiness in living this life. Currently, in my city and some locations in my country it has entered the rainy season. It rains almost every day in the afternoon or evening making some streets flooded. Therefore, we must be able to maintain our health to be strong in facing this climate change.
One way to keep us healthy is to try to always be happy and think positive. There are many ways to find happiness, one of which is to eat delicious food. Delicious food doesn't always have to be expensive or you have to go to restaurants and cafes. If we are lucky and want to try, some street food outlets have delicious dishes like my story this time, when I went for breakfast at one of the noodle stalls in my city,
Warung Mie Balap Bang Mail
Normally, we have three meal times, namely breakfast, lunch and dinner. If I could only choose one time to enjoy delicious food, I think I would choose breakfast with delicious dishes. Breakfast is very important for us, because we can say breakfast is like fuel for the car. We need breakfast to provide energy to face all kinds of life's challenges and also restore our mood.
A few days ago, I had breakfast at Mie Balap Mail Krakatau which is very legendary in my city. This food outlet has been around for 16 years and consistently provides delicious and inexpensive breakfast offerings. Its first outlet was located on Krakatau Street and currently, Mie Balap Mail already has several outlets in Medan City. I visited a food outlet located at Gaperta Street – Medan Helvetia District, Medan City. The outlet is on the side of the road, so we can easily find this street food. Mie Balap Mail uses a three-story shophouse building for its business, but all the cooking and kitchen utensils and serving are done in the courtyard of this shophouse.
The location of the cooking area which is at the front, makes the visitors who come can see the cooking process and also the presentation of the dish. For fans of culinary tourism, one of the joys is to see the process of cooking one food. We like to see an act, a cook playing with a frying pan and a spatula.
Mie Balap is one of my city's culinary delights for breakfast. In terminology, "Mie Balap" is defined as the English version of "Racing Noodles". Culinary name that sounds strange, but the naming is because the cooking process is fast and odd. We can see from how messy the kitchen utensils from this food outlet are. Usually, the cook will cook a large pan of fried noodles so that customers don't have to wait long to get their orders.
Egg Fried Kwetiau
my wife was curious about the taste.
Here, we can choose some two fried noodles such as kwetiau and vermicelli. For the variant of the dish, we can choose the egg or seafood version. For the variant of fried egg kwetiau or fried egg vermicelli, it's only IDR 8K (0.6 USD) and for seafood topping IDR 15k (1 USD). I came too early to this place, the seafood topping is still being cooked. I saw the egg-fried kwetiau was ready and ordered the menu for my breakfast.
We won't have to wait long for our order. A plate of fried kwetiau has come to our table with a very strong smell. I can't wait to taste it. Try friends, see the appearance of this fried kwetiau, like it was cooked with a lot of eggs. The info I got from the cook, every single process of cooking noodles, they need about 13-15 eggs so the eggs are not only as a complement but serve one part of a complete dish. My wife was also surprised by the shape of this fried kwetiau from Mie Balap Mael.
This Egg Fried Kwetiau has a delicious aroma. The cooking process uses firewood over high heat so that when we eat it there will be a smoky taste. In addition, savory and salty flavors are the two most pronounced flavors in this dish. The soft texture of the kwetiau combined with the stir-fried spices makes one serving not enough for us. If you like spicy taste, you can add chili sauce which is available at this food outlet.
In fact, the ingredients used to make this dish are very simple and can be duplicated. To make egg fried kwetiau, we need kwetiau, scallions, soy sauce, ground spices (garlic, onion, chili, pepper), bean sprouts, etc. However, the taste is even more enjoyable when eating racing noodles from Mie Balap Bang Mail Outlet. Therefore, even though there are tens or hundreds of racing noodle outlets in Medan City. This place has always been the choice of many people for a cheap and delicious breakfast menu.
