Saturday is always a time for potluck for us. Potluck is bringing food together to be shared with others in the team or congregation.
Last Saturday I cooked Banana blossoms and green bean patties. If you're following me, you know that we have two banana blossoms we got from a visit to the garden on Holiday. I decided to make a patty out of it. While preparing the ingredients I found some green beans or we commonly called Baguio beans left in the vegetable tray and thought why I won't include this? So I decided to cook it together with the banana blossom. This is the first time I am cooking them together as patties. Why waste vegetables if you can cook it with other vegetables.
So, for today's blog let's cook an easy yet healthy and delicious recipe - Banana blossom and green bean patty.
INGREDIENTS
2 medium sized banana blossom
1/4kg Green beans (estimated only)
1 cup flour
1 extra large sized egg
1 medium sized onions
2 cloves garlic
Salt
Oil
PROCEDURE
Step 1. Prepare the banana blossom.

Remove the old or matured part of banana blossoms.

Chop the banana blossoms into small pieces.

After you're done, the banana blossom will look like in the picture above.

Put some salt and mix with it. Press it while mixing until the sap will go out. Remove it's sap by pressing it with your hands. I have more detailed pictures HERE.

When you're done removing it's sap it will look like in the picture above. Set aside.

Step 2. Prepare the onions and garlic by chopping them into small pieces.

Step 3. Wash the green beans, remove its tip and chop them into small pieces.

Step 4. When everything is ready. Get your chopped banana blossoms. Add the chopped grean beans, chopped onions and garlic then add one cup flour. Add salt to taste and then mix them well.

Step 5. Add one egg and mix well.

After mixing them all together, it will look like this.

Step 6. Make small balls according to your desired size. I put a little oil in my hand for easy making of balls.

You can then fry them but since I have a limited cooking oil, I flattened them.

Step 6. Put cooking oil in the pan and let it boil. Fry the patties until golden brown and then turn upside down.
