Today I made potato pancakes to eat. Sweet, sprinkled with sugar. I really wanted them after I recently ate Hungarian potato pancake in a milk bar. I would even make such pancakes, with meat stew, but I didn't have a proper meat at home, so I made a vegetarian version, with the addition of sweet sprinkles.
Dzisiaj zrobiłam sobie do zjedzenia placki ziemniaczane. Na słodko, posypane cukrem. Miałam na nie dużą ochotę po tym jak ostatnio zjadłam w barze mlecznym placek ziemniaczany po węgiersku. Nawet zrobiłabym takie placki, z mięsnym gulaszem, ale nie miałam w domu odpowiedniego mięsa, więc wyszła wegetariańska wersja, a do tego z dodatkiem słodkiej posypki.

I started making this dish by grating potatoes on a grater with small meshes, Then I squeezed out the peeled potatoes, poured out the water and put back the squeezed, grated potatoes and the layer of potato flour that remained in the bowl after pouring the water out.
Zaczęłam robienie tej potrawy od starcia ziemniaków na tarce z małymi oczkami. Następnie odcisnęłam obrane ziemniaki, odlałam wodę i odłożyłam do miseczki wyciśnięte, starte ziemniaki oraz warstwę mąki ziemniaczanej, która została w miseczce po odlaniu wody.
To the potatoes and starch squeezed out of water, I added an egg, half a tablespoon of flour, grated onion, pepper and salt. I mixed all the ingredients together. I also added a little chives to the cake. Parsley would be better, but I didn't have it at home.
Do odciśniętych z wody ziemniaków i skrobi dodałam jajko, pół łyżki mąki, startą na tarce cebulę, pieprz i sól. Wymieszałam razem wszystkie składniki. Do powstającego ciast ana placki dodałam też trochę szczypiorku. Lepsza by była pietruszka, ale nie miałam jej akurat w domu.
Soon the pancake dough was ready, it was enough to pour a little dough into the hot oil and flatten the dough to make pancakes.
Wkrótce ciasto na placki było gotowe, wystarczyło wlać trochę ciasta na rozgrzany olej i rozpłaszczyć ciasto tak aby powstały placki.
The pancakes fried quickly. I drained them from the fat on a paper towel and they were ready to eat.
Placki szybko się usmażyły. Odsączyłam je z tłuszczu na ręczniku papierowym i były gotowe do zjedzenia.
I haven't eaten potato pancakes sprinkled with sugar in a long time. They were crunchy on the outside and tasted delicious.
Dawno nie jadłam placków posypanych cukrem. Były chrupiące z zewnątrz i smakowały pysznie.
