In this episode of Wander and Savor, I am showing you Khao Soi, Som Tam, and Pad thai. They are apparently a must-try food when you visit Thailand. I was honestly skeptical about trying to do the mainstream food in Thailand but I guess, it’s mainstream for a reason. However, Khao Soi isn’t something you often hear that people try. Meanwhile Som Tam, is something that was recommended quite often by locals. It’s like one of those “ you have to try cause it’ll make you like locals” type of food. Meanwhile, Pad Thai is pretty familiar and I am sure that some of you have heard it as well. It’s something even where I am from, something that we associate Thailand with.
Khao soi is basically savory noodle served with chicken. Its broth is so rich and creamy. To me it tastes like shrimp broth but I am not even sure if they were using shrimp. All I know is that it tasted really good and I wanted more.
Meanwhile for Som Tam, it’s papaya salad and actually pretty interesting. It’s a mixture of spicy, sour and sweet. They even added small crabs to it and fish sauces. They also have plenty of cabbages which was intriguing to me. I think that it’s something that you need to have with fried pork or crispy pork.
Last but not least, Pad Thai in Thailand is definitely the best. I never thought that it would come with massive bean sprouts. It’s my favorite part where it is spicy mixed with crunchiness. No wonder people actually love this because it’s just so good. They also add crushed nuts on it too.
