We have a neighbor who has a small farm of Apple and other fruits. They were pretty generous giving us few of them from the farm. It feels good when you get something from neighbors in times like these. So here's my post on apple custard recipe which I tried recently.
My final output looks something like this :
Here are some of the ingredients that you need for the Apple Custard:
- 2 grated apples
- 1/2 cup custard powder
- 2 tbsp corn flour
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 cup milk (appx 1/2 ltr)
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 1 tbsp cardamom powder
- 10 tbsp Sugar
Procedure:
- Take a shaped bowl add corn flour, 1/2 cup milk and add corn flour into it.
- In another bowl take 1 cup of water and add the sugar into it.
- Now it's time to work on our apple. Take our custard powder mixture and grated apple into a bowl.
- Let the milk based mixture heat up for 20 or so minutes. Add 1.2 cup remaining milk, vanilla and let the mixture boil till it gets some thickness.
- Now take it out and let it cool for some time.
- Now in a shaped bowl you can add this mixture, add the cinnamon powder, stir it.
- Start the preheat oven and let the mixture heat on 180 degree for 30 minutes.
- After that take out the mixture and refrigerate and overnight.
Take the bowl out and turn it upside down on a plate.
Make sure to tape on the bottom of the shaped bowl and then make sure that mixture is now stuck on the plate. Once you remove the bowl the custard should partially take the shape of it. That looks something like this.
This is my first time experimenting with the custard apple. Homesteading journey has been pretty good with me experimenting various recipes made up with local recipes. I hope you like this.
Thank you for reading till the end.
