This is my second time visiting this place. This place is one of the places to eat that sells typical Surabaya food. You know, why did I come here? because, most of my friends in the office are from East Java. So, this restaurant is the right place for you to get an authentic taste of East Java. I tried new food at this place. Tahu Campur. First time coming here, I tried Rujak Cingur.
This is my first time trying this food. I like gambling when I order this food. I don't know if this food is delicious or not, but I'm sure Indonesian food is always delicious. There are many spices from every typical Indonesian food. When this food first arrived, I felt the aroma of the broth with spices. The smell made me impatient to try this food.
Tahu Campur, one of the foods of Lamongan, one of the cities in East Java. I know little about the history of this dish. I will try to explain to you. This food is sold by a farmer in Lamongan. In between farming, he started selling Soto. Soto is one of Lamongan's specialty foods. One day, when he came home from farming at noon, there was no food in the house.
In his house there is only soto. There is only cabbage, bean sprouts, a piece of tofu and petis (a special spice from Madura). The farmer, trying to mix his food. He also added the soto sauce he still had. After mixing, he felt the taste was not good. Until finally, he added petis.
The food was distributed to the neighbors. Until finally, the farmer tried to sell the new food. But, he replaced the cabbage with lettuce. At the beginning of the sale, the farmer was confused about the name of the food he was selling. Inadvertently, he mentioned a food called "Tahu Campur". This food began to spread to a number of areas in Lamongan. And as local food Lamongan.
There is Cingur (cow's mouth) in this food, cingur is a mixture of this food. In some sellers, do not use cingur as an additional ingredient. But, use an Knuckle of beef. The texture is almost the same with Knuckle. For the price, this food is sold for IDR 25,000. For me, the portion of the food is quite a lot. You can eat your share with your friends. I want to try again.

My friend tried the Rujak Cingur. Rujak Cingur is a typical food from Surabaya. In some references that I read, this food comes from Egypt. Oh, I don't want to think about it. This food is very good. I like it, but I still find it weird to add pineapple to this dish.
There are boiled vegetables. Such as, kale, bean sprouts, long beans and carrots. Then, there are fruits such as pineapple, jicama and cucumber. Coupled with special seasoning with peanut sauce and sugar. And add the petis in the seasoning. It tastes so delicious. even though it's my first time trying the food, for me this food is very good. However, I don't like pineapple in this dish, especially if it uses sour pineapple.

I didn't order this food. I only tasted it from my friend. For the price, this food is sold at IDR 35,000 for one portion. the food sold here, sold in large portions and very much. So you can share the food with your friends, I also tried the "nasi uduk" that my friend ordered. Oh, yeah, all the friends in my office try to eat at this place, so we can share food.
This place to eat is in a very strategic place, Jalan Wahid Hashim, Central Jakarta. For those of you who live in Central Jakarta and want to try this food, you can order food in the online sales application. Oh yes, for the place, this restaurant is not too big. But there are so many customers in this place, according to my friend, they are the only ones here who sell authentic food with the typical taste of East Java.
For those of you who eat directly at this place, you have to wait a little longer. Apparently, there are only a few chefs in this place. That's what makes the food take a long time to come to your table. But, the food sold is very good. About the taste in this place, you don't have to worry. I almost forgot, the name of this place is "Warung Ngalam".
