Preparing Sunday lunch usually ends with a good dessert, the time needed for Sunday lunch takes a little more time, because on Sunday the whole family is together and then we try to make lunch as rich as possible, how much time we have left to prepare a great cake ?
Well, not a lot of time, but that's why simpler cakes are always welcome, but of course they are also delicious.
My inspiration for the Sunday cake was something simple and delicious, but also refreshing, I love cakes that contain fruit because it gives them real freshness.
This is an old recipe that delights, baklava with cherries and semolina, a great combination of ingredients in just one cake, and besides, the preparation is very simple.
I like this cake with a sour taste, it somehow boosts energy, its reddish color speaks volumes about how desirable it is for our body, in the winter days when the choice of fruit is not so great. That is why you should always prepare your winter well.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 pack of thin crusts
- 500 g of cherries
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 cup semolina
- 1 cup oil
- 1 baking powder
PREPARATION:
In a deeper bowl, add the eggs, the eggs should be fresh and at room temperature, then add the sugar and stir with a mixer until the mass becomes foamy.
When it is frothy, add the semolina, then a glass of yogurt and stir to combine the ingredients.
Once we have combined these ingredients, we add a glass of oil and baking powder, combine everything and the filling is done.
In a certain pan in which we planned to bake, coat with oil, and then take three crusts that we will put as a base, then coat with the filling, and then spread the cherries evenly over the filling.
Do not overdo it with the filling, but put a couple of spoons to nicely cover the surface of the whole crust, so arrange until the crust, filling and cherries disappear. To cover the cake, leave two crusts on the side.
When you have put the last crust and covered the cake, just coat it with oil, turn the oven to 200 degrees, put the cake in the oven to bake.
In order to make the cake as soft as possible, while it is baking, we will prepare a syrup that we will pour over the warm cake with the already cooled syrup when the cake is ready.
IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE SYRUP:
- 300 g of sugar
- 300 ml of water
- 1 lemon
PREPARATION:
Put sugar and water in one bowl and bring to a boil at a medium temperature, which means that the sugar would dissolve in the water and become slightly thicker.
We will wash the lemon and cut it into rings.
When the water and sugar start to boil, add the lemon rings.
When it has boiled a little, leave it in a cool place to cool down a bit.
Now it is cold and the syrup will cool down quickly, during which time the cake will be ready. The cake takes about 40 minutes to bake or, depending on the oven, basically when it gets a nice golden color, the cake is ready.
When the cake is ready, take it out of the oven and pour the syrup over it, leave it to cool a bit, the cake will withdraw the syrup and you will get a fine and soft cake. Arrange the lemon on the cake.
We know that cakes are high in calories, but cherries and lemon make it different, they give it a more sour taste, give the cake freshness and color, so it is also a decorative cake.
The taste of this cake really wins.
