This refreshingly Yummy Kusido Sinabawang Hasa-Hasa or Short Mackerel (Fish Soup with Calamansi Juice) is a Bicolano fish soup recipe. Sinabawang isda is a simple fish soup dish I used a Hasa-Hasa fish or Short Mackerel with vegetables called fresh sweet potato leaves (Also known as Talbos ng Kamote in Filipino). This fish soup dish is very healthy it's also perfect for those people who don't want to eat rice. This dish is perfect to serve in lunch and dinner the soup of the fish can give you a refreshing feeling especially if the soup is hot.
List Of Ingredients
▢10 pieces Short Mackerel (Hasa-hasa)
▢1 bundle sweet potato leaves (Talbos ng Kamote)
▢1 large Red Onion (Sibuyas)
▢2 pieces Tomato (Kamatis)
▢20-30 piece Calamansi (Kalamansi)
▢3-4 tablespoons fish sauce (Patis)
▢6-8 cups water (tubig)
▢Salt & Black Pepper
Preparation
- Remove the gills and wash the fish.
- Slice the red onion into medium size.
- Slice the tomato into medium size.
- Squeeze the 20 pieces of citrus fruit in a bowl.
- Just pick and tip the upper leaves of sweet potato leaves.
Cooking Instruction
In one casserole pan pour, 6-7 cups of water let it boil.
Add the sliced onion and tomatoes cover the pan and let it boil for about 6-8 minutes.
Add 3-4 tablespoons of fish sauce stir and cover again.
After about 8 minutes of boiling add the fish Hasa-Hasa or Short Mackerel and continue to cook on a medium flame for about 2-3 minutes.
After about 3 minutes add the leaves of the sweet potato stir gently cover the pan and continue to boil for about 3 minutes.
After about 3 minutes pour the citrus fruit juice stir gently and cover the pan continue to cook for about 3 minutes.

After 20 minutes of cooking my Yummy Kusido Sinabawang Hasa-Hasa (Fish Soup with Calamansi Juice) is ready to serve. Get a bowl and transfer the fish soup serve with warm white rice that is the perfect combination of this fish soup dish. It's better to serve this soup while hot because like I said it can give a refreshing feeling. The tase of this yummy kusido is a little bit sour because of the citrus fruit juice.
