We're taking a trip to the beautiful Himeji Castle in Japan (Just a day trip from Kobe with Shinkanzen bullet train). Before we tackle the giant castle, we knew our stomachs needed to be filled with some delicious food to give us the energy we need for a long walk. So, Kevin found the perfect spot, Gun Gun!
Ju Ju (十・十) this cute name is this little okonomiyaki place that was a must-eat. If you're unfamiliar, okonomiyaki is a type of Japanese pancake with a variety of ingredients like veggies, meat, and noodles, topped with sauces and mayo. The best part about this place was the cooking style, where the chef cooked the dishes for a bit at their cooking station and then served it on a flat pan right in front of us. We got to cook our own food and eat it hot.. fun! Almost burn at some point so make sure you do it quick if you ever go to this kind of okonomiyaki restaurant #lol
But wait, it gets better! As I'm really a noodle girl.. We also tried some delicious noodle dishes like yaki soba and even a hybrid noodle dish in okonomiyaki (sorry, I can't remember the name - I was too focused on eating! :D)
And now, for the real fun part - the sauces and condiments! There were a few types on the side and we got to pour the amount we'd like. It was like being a kid in a candy store, only this time it was with sauces! We got to play with the flavors and create our own unique taste which of course, shit tons of nori seaweed and dry squid shakes!!!
I, of course, paired my okonomiyaki with my absolute favorite drink from my travels in Japan - plum wine! This time, I switched it up and pair it with soda, and let me tell you, it was super fresh and refreshing!
Gun Gun is totally the perfect pit-stop before our journey to the giant Himeji Castle. Our stomachs were happy and ready to rock the castle.
