Oooooh! Japanese curry fan says 'Yay!'
Yay!
Looks good, doesn't it? It tastes good too! Japanese chicken curry with carrots and onions served along with rice. Easy peasy to prepare and it takes less than half an hour to make the dish. Lemme share easy recipe how I randomly made it :)
Curry paste!
Yes!! You need curry paste to make curry unless you're a badass and make it yourself :D That would take hours and so many ingredients you would need. I personally think, go to the nearest Asian stores or a big enough supermarket to get one of these packs of Japanese curry pastes. We got the 'Extra hot' flavor. Spoiler alert, it's not hot at all.
This brand 'Java', exactly this package I got, came with 2 small packages and each one is 4-5 serving so I divided it in half because it's just 2 of us. Once you open the package, totally smell the strong curry.. I can't wait!!!
Carrots
Japanese curry's always with carrots! We got that a few days back without knowing we would make this curry so, it's rainbow carrots! Sounds fancy, doesn't it? :) It tastes somewhat different but my favorite, honestly, is those original orange ones.
I cut them up like really big chunks! I love it that way because I prefer chewing and I feel like it holds more juice that way.
Onions
Onion is also a must when it comes to Japanese curry. It gives such a unique and great onion flavors. Not to mention such a crunch if you don't over cook it.
Same way as cutting the carrots, big chunks are the way to go!
Stir, Water, Curry
There are 3 simple steps of turning all the ingredients into a beautiful bowl of curry. First, stir all the vegetables, meat (in this case, we used leftover chicken from last night's dinner :D). Stir till the onions turn golden. I left it a bit too long so instead of golden, it turns charcoal
Secondly, add water just the right amount the instruction says. In this case, half of the curry package, I need 700 ml of water. Wait till it comes to boiling.
Lastly, add the right amount of curry into the soup and stir around.
Rice!
Don't forget the rice!! Curry is best with rice. No matter what kinds of curry, really. While cooking the curry this whole time, the rice is already being cooked and waited for us.
Itadakimasu
"Itadakimasu" is an essential phrase in Japanese meaning"Let's eat," "Bon appétit," or "Thanks for the food."
Yay or Nay
100% yay!
