Beefy, meaty, unlimited, period.
Not sure if it’s just in our head, but when we meet in a group (of our high school friends), we just feel like something meaty, unlimited, and gotta be in a nice cool air where we can chill, and chit chat for a long while, while enjoying all the food.
So it’s either Korean style pork make it yourself bbq, or Asian style hot pot (assuming there’s such a thing as ‘European hot pot or African hot pot and else’), or that source of things. You get an idea.
This time once again, meet with 4 people from high school and suddenly, something meaty is calling. We went to a market avenue (Centerpoint, was it?) in Siam area, one of the busiest trendy area where people go for shopping, meeting, eating and all kind of entertainment. Walking around and ended up at Akiyoshi, an all you can eat shabu shabu and suki.
Shabu! And the raw egg dip!
Now let’s talk shabu a Japanese style hotpot dish with a thinly sliced meat and vegetables quickly dipped in the hot boiling broth. I seriously can call this my comfort food. I can have it a few times a week no problem. Now another interesting part, some places offer various types of soup. One of the soup that I would call it a ‘classic’ is this black shabu soup. Just a broth with goodie based (good explanation, indeed). After you quickly cook a thin piece of meat in that black shabu soup, what they say tastes best is that, that piece of meat right away dipped in a raw egg before you put in your mouth. For me, I love the fact that it’s simply delicious.
The shabu buffet costs $699 ($20 !) all you can eat with both pork and beef. If you don’t like beef, then you can go with the less expensive package but don’t we like beef? Duh!
Ordered like we hadn’t had food for weeks. All parts of beef that were on the menu. Many kinds of pork as well as one of our friend happen to not consume pork. Other than that, there are other options like fish balls, meat balls and tons of veggies to choose from.
Only dip into the soup, then dip in the sauce (add the flavors and decrease the temperature - 2 birds with 1 stone. Genius!) before in to your mouth just almost right away. It’s healthy too! At least, that’s what I think :)
Dessert!
2 types of desserts to choose from here at Akiyoshi. Shaved ice topped with sweeten red beans (might sound weird for a lot of you, I suppose) and chocolate ice-cream. Which one would you go for? Seriously, don’t decide so seriously, it’s all you can eat! Eat them all! So did we and I think I like it more towards the ice-cream. As mentioned, sweeten red beans on top of shaved ice is a little weird, yes, also for myself.
Alrighty, Akiyoshi it is! Quite like it. It’s simple and it’s delicious. Considering amount of food we have eaten and the quality of all the meat, the freshness of the veggies, $20 all you can eat is literally nothing.
I could do this every month.. (I can’t take much buffet every so often no more. It’s a lot like torture and I can’t control myself.)
Totally hit this place up or also a few restaurants (surrounding it there in Center Point, Bangkok). Feel free to just pick the one your sense tell you or the one that least busy. I’m sure they’re all just so good!
