After admiring the castle's stunning beauty of Himiji Castle, we went to find some delicious food and ended up at a local restaurant featuring fish dishes. To our surprise, it was an authentic experience that showcased a wide array of fresh fish, including sashimi and wagyu sushi, which was burned right at our table. It was a unique treat! (We actually have these in Thailand but it's never looked as exciting as when we have it in Japan!)
One of the highlights of our meal was the wagyu sushi, which was cooked right in front of us. The juicy, tender meat melted in our mouths, and the combination of flavors with the rice, and sauces on top was just umami!
After our meal, we decided to explore the nearby area and encountered an ice-cream shop. The matcha soft serve caught our eye (we're in Japan so, duh!), and we couldn't resist trying it. It was the right choice. The creamy and smooth ice cream, combined with the intense matcha flavor, was the perfect way to was our mouth after the fishy (but yummy) meal.
The best part of our trip was not just the stunning Himeji Castle, but also the delicious food we encountered along the way. The castle even made an appearance in the background of our ice-cream photo, making it even more special and memorable.
Visiting Himeji Castle was a real treat for both our eyes and taste buds. The beautiful castle, combined with the local cuisine. Lovely one-day trip.. I would totally come back just to find more local food gems around.
