The most recent batch to come out of the freeze dryer is the ingredients for ramen bowls. So often the store bought ones have tons of sodium and various ingredients that we don't really need to be ingesting. I was figuring the process would take about 30 hours and it came in right under that.
We put in a tray and a half of amino soaked tofu with the other half sliced celery.
Lots of green onion bunches were sliced up and amounted to a full tray's worth. put 5 blops of miso paste to see how it would fare. It was the only thing not fully done when the process completed but that is due to how thick of blops, if the paste was spread out thinner it would have been fine. They are still usable though.
The diced carrots got steamed in the microwave first for a bit to soften them up and then into the freeze dryer.
The last tray was the rice ramen noodles. This was 4 cakes cooked up and then separated out into single size servings for drying with a tiny bit of tofu to fill the tray.
It was 9:00pm when the cycle finished and I could pull the trays. The carrots are incredible with the texture and flavor, I like them WAY better than dehydrated. The green onions and celery are still packed with flavor but weigh next to nothing.
The tofu does great in the dryer and comes out crunchy and super light weight. The noodles stayed nicely in their mounds and all fit into a covered tray for storage.
Our friend dropped off items for us to run through so those trays are getting put in this morning for a likely 35 hour run. It's raining today and R has preschool again. The rain is melting the snow all off quickly and our driveway is not a ice rink for once.
